Biography

Yvonne Robert (1972) grew up in Germany, studied graphic design, has lived and worked in Zurich, Switzerland for several years.

The beginning is the colour.
Yvonne Robert's often bright and gestural paintings are the result of an intuitive and uninhibited approach to color and composition. Her spontaneity of conception and dynamic gesture are free of complex references and their associated meanings. Instead, she adheres firmly to color, form, proportion, rhythm, and structure, which run like a thread through her work.

Her work does not rely on socio-political rhetoric to claim any form of philosophical discourse. Her intention is to allow the viewer to reflect inwardly and find their own perspective. After all, it is our individual perception that gives us clarity and a true sense of understanding.
It is the emotions that her paintings evoke in the viewer that interest her. She says she wants to create art that gives energy. A way to return to a natural state where instinct takes precedence over knowledge.
