Maxine Keenan
Biography
Maxine Keenan (1999) lives and works in Glasgow, Scotland. She graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 2020 with a BA in Painting and Printmaking. Since graduating she has participated in group exhibitions in the UK and internationally.
Her soft pastel drawings exist as intangible memories on the edge of familiarity. Constructed from memory, the drawings are fleeting moments immortalised through muted tones and therapeutic gradients. Her slow burning and conscious use of pigment creates an image that vibrates with visual noise. Untouched objects are depicted with attention to pattern, shadow, and texture which allows the duality of presence and isolation to flow through the works. In the absence of human contact, the stillness of everyday moments is brought to mind.
