Niina Lehtonen Braun will be delighting us at Snow on Sunday, April 10. Niina is presenting her latest art book Mädchen lass los/Let Go Girl, which was published end of 2021. She is also unveiling her all new series of small edition fine art prints from artworks featured in the book.
The third in the series of art books by Niina Lehtonen Braun, Mädchen lass los/Let Go Girl, examines the theme of the various roles and tasks of women and the enormous pressure they bring with them. What kinds of expectations do women have of themselves and which ones come from society itself? How do they deal with the fear of failure? Between 2017 and 2021 the artist created more than five hundred collages that gave a voice to mothers, daughters, partners, friends, and artists, which remains warm and humorous despite all of the exigencies. The book contains a selection of these works and a companion essay by Dr. Christine Nippe.

Niina Lehtonen Braun (b.1975 in Helsinki) graduated with M.A. from the Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki in 2000 (departments Painting and Time & Space) and has been living in Berlin since that. In addition to collages, her artistic work includes paintings, installations and performances. Lehtonen Braun is a founding member of the performance group JOKAklubi (FI/DE), and she regularly works in co-operation with the performance group Sabotanic Garden (FI/CZ). Lehtonen Braun has published three art books; Mother Said (Kerber Verlag, 2013), These Foolish Things Remind Me Of You (Kerber Verlag, 2016) and Mädchen lass los / Let Go Girl (Kerber Verlag, 2021) . She is founding member of the Berlin based project space HilbertRaum.
